My life has gone to the dogs.

Literally. I started this journey 10 years ago when I went into the local rural shelter to walk some dogs. I had no idea that would send me to the doggie lifestyle me and my family have become accustomed to. Volunteering at that little shelter changed my life. The dogs there had been there for a long time and the staff was too small to work with them. Walking the dogs was not possible as they had no idea on how to walk on a leash or even tolerate wearing a collar. I was disappointed by this, but it made me even more determined to help them. How would they ever get adopted if they couldn't walk on leashes? So I began the search for information on how to help them. Unfortunately, or maybe thankfully, there wasn't as much out there to find on the internet about it like there is today. I was thrown into the deep end of dog training and behavior modification. I was able to learn tips and get tools to help me teach those dogs more than just how to walk on a leash. I also found I was naturally good at it. I also found out how amazing dogs are and how they can change with work, time, and understanding. I continued my education and found more formal educational avenues to grow my skills. A few years later I decided to open up a boarding and training business out of my home to be able to help pet owners also achieve that transformation with their beloved dogs. Over the years I've worked with several humane societies, a local dog pound, and 2 rescues. I have also helped many dog owners change their relationship with their dog and show them that their dog's behavior could be changed. I have fostered over 300 dogs and worked with thousands of dogs in shelters, along with all the 100's of dogs I've helped through training and boarding in my business. I've worked with severe dog-to-dog and human aggression, resource guarding of all kinds, trained deaf dogs and blind dogs, severe reactivity, barrier & leash aggression, to all the smaller issues in between. While I've seen A LOT, I continue to learn and be amazed by dogs and their resiliency to come back from a place no one thought they could. I am continually growing and learning as a trainer so that I can offer the best services possible to my clients and shelter dogs.
